Are You Reigning in Christ's Authority Over Your Responsibilities?

From Genesis to Revelation, the Scriptures teach that we are born to reign and represent the kingdom of God within our domain. Specifically, we are called to represent our King in all areas of our responsibility and influence. From creation, God's plan was for man to reign on the earth according to the principles of heaven.

Too many people of God are too similar to the people of the world. We are called to victory, but too often settle for defeat. We are called to peace, but too often are worried and anxious. We have been given authority and power, but too often feel helpless and weak. We should be confident and expectantly optimistic about our future, but too often are pessimistic. The gospel of the kingdom is a key to an abundant meaningful significant life. A life filled with satisfaction and power as we follow our King.

From the beginning, the Lord's desire was to establish the kingdom of heaven on this earth. After God made man in His image, He charged Adam and Eve to rule over the earth and every living creature. Their domain was to be the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2:15). But Adam and Eve sinned and were sent out of the garden (Gen. 3:23). They lost their domain and the right to rule. In the first reference to the coming Messiah, God told Satan that Eve's seed would bruise his head (symbolic of authority).

"Rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves on the earth" (Gen. 1:28b).

"I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel" (Gen. 3:15).

The Messiah came. He paid the price for our sins. He empowered us with the Holy Spirit. He left us His Word, which will never fail. He restored the kingdom of God to earth and will return to reign physically. We have no excuse. We are called to reign within our domains. We should reign in life.

"For if by one man's trespass death reigned through him, then how much more will those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:17).

Jesus taught us to pray "Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6:10). We are charged to bring the culture, values, morals, love, power and attitude of heaven to all of our areas of responsibility and influence. Regardless of our vocation or status in life, we can overcome any obstacle. We can demonstrate the kingdom of God and the goodness of our Creator in all circumstances.

We are called to reign within our areas of responsibility. The Bible says we not only conquer but we overwhelmingly conquer. As citizens of the kingdom of God, we don't just squeak by. We are called to act as representatives of the King of kings, who adopted us into His family. We can call on all the resources of heaven when we are about the King's business. Let us not shrink back. Let us move forward replacing darkness with light, mourning with joy, despair with hope and defeat with victory.

"In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Rom. 8:37).

And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests unto our God; and we shall reign on the earth" (Rev. 5:910).
